Has anyone had any experience moving from Europe to the US to work a pilot?

I don't have any experience with that, but in order that others may pipe in can your provide more info on what type of flying you are referring to. Eg - What type of pilot, Commercial for airlines etc? Or more Flight Instruction/Charter flights etc?

I had a friend who was hired as a First Officer for Virgin Atlantic, in his early twenties, when they first started up.

He was made reduntant and moved to Orlando,FL, to fly Gulfstreams. Wasn't long before he moved back to Blighty for better employment prospects.

Airlines have laid off hundreds of thousands, over here, since 2001.
