In need of job and some advice

After a lot of research I've found this forum and it seems that people posting really have some good advice. So, here's my story.

I'm a Croatian national with a B1/B2 visa. I've visited my American boyfriend few times already and never had any problems. We just want to be able to spend some time together, hopefully in normal environment, with both of us working and having a normal life, rather then seeing each other during holidays. I've been applying for jobs in the US for several months now, without even getting a rejection letter. My background is very specific (Bachelor's degree in Economics/Marketing, but with 8 years of working for non-profit agencies and UN) and it's very difficult to find an organisation in San Francisco that would hire me.
I've learned so far that I need to find an employer who is willing to sponsor me first. This is where I got stuck - no job offers so far! So I'm wondering if the sites like H1base or H1sponsors are actually working because I am getting very worried. In addition, I just learned that the quota for next fiscal year is getting filled up as we speak, which of course does not help me at all.
Plan B is to stay in the States on my current visa for a while and then leave again for another contract. However, I can only do that in January and I'm wondering with visa quota being filled by that time, would it just be futile to look for a job while in the States?
I've also heard all kinds of horror stories from a lawyer in US who told me I was only lucky that I was allowed in the States every time and for a period of 6 months - she reckons it's a true miracle. Which puzzles me even more cause my every entry was smooth, I even told them every time that I'm visiting my boyfriend, which according to the lawyer is a big no-no. So now I'm even afraid if they will let me in in January!

Any advice would be welcome! Thank you

I've just been having a look at this site. I think i'm going to give it a go. Seems to be a good service with a high success rate (though that's subjective to time) as i'm finding sponsor firms near impossible to find. I'm going to see if my imigration lawyers heard of them.

I'll keep you informed of how I get on :)

I gave up on trying to find a job. The quota must be filled by now and I've decided to go and live off my savings for as long as I can. I will of course look for a job while there. Would be very interested to hear from you though and see if it's worth it - thanks a lot!

Just as a little update, the immigration lawers I went to do know of them and say they are very good, so I will be singing up with them. You're right, the quota has been reached for this year, the next lot come out in April 2005 with a job start date of October 2005 (processing time right?) but i'm gonna sign up with them just to start the ball rolling (allbeit real early hehe)

I will keep ya fully posted into how they do etc.. they claim to have a 72% success rate so might be good as part of a multi-pronged attack :)
