Experienced chef
My hubby is a very experienced chef (20 years). However, he has no formal qualifications in his trade but could provide detailed references from former employers. As the TRA are currently reviewing their assessment criteria as to whether to accept experience as opposed to quals, would it help if he could secure a job in Australia beforehand? I am a prison officer and although this is not on the skilled occupation list, the recruitment department for 'correctional services' in Western Australia are currently looking into the viability of overseas recruitment (answer due in May, I believe). I haven't started the application process yet as it currently appears to be a case of 'wait and see'. Can anybody shed any light? All advise gratefully received!!

Interested how you get on Nessi as my OH is in the same boat, plenty of awards but no qualifications. I on the other had am what they call a Childcare co-ordinator (nursery manager). So I dont know wether to start making the visa for myself or for him, Ive been advised that it may be easier to do the visa in his name because I haven been in my post for more than 3 years or something? I'd really like it if he got a sponcered visa and we could just bugger off right now, but cant seem to be able to get anywhere?? Let me know how your getting on, as we both seem to be stuck by the "pathway D" nightmare. Julia:thumbsup: |

I believe that the prison service is recruiting prison officers as they were at the skills expo in London .This would probably be the best route to take as the were offering sponcership on thier stall for the right candidates. |
