USA or stay in the UK?

Hi there,
I have the hard decision to keep my already LDR long distance for a couple more years or make the move across the pond.
Thing is my US partner would eventually like to move to the UK.
Guess i'm going to have to do a lot of thinking in 2014

It's a question that I think is very personal for you as your bound to get different viewpoints on here.

For example, I moved from Scotland to California and married my US girlfriend and obtained citizenship. Been here 15 years now and we're keen to move to the UK, at least long enough for her to become a UK citizen.

That will then give us the flexibility of living on ether side of the Atlantic which is what we're aiming for, plus we'll spend 5 or so years making visits to Europe.

Thanks Hotscot. We are giving it this year and then will decide best course of action for both of us. At least we have Skype and vacation days to spend together. I'm in this for the long term so it takes as long as it takes i guess.

I think you have to take a close look at what Visa options would be available to both of you on each side of the ocean. You dont mention whether you are planning to get married or not which may also affect your options. If you are not getting married then you would be looking at work visa's on either side so probably best to do some research as to whether this is an option or not. best of luck!

Marriage will be an option when the time comes to decide. We just don't want to rush into anything at the moment as both of our careers are doing well in our respective countries. My partner is more liking the idea of living in the UK than i am in living in the US. The distance sucks but it isn't too big a deal at the moment.
