UK couple looking at options abroad

Hello :)

I am currently working as an administrator in Manchester and my boyfriend is a Business analyst/Project manager who has previously lived in China for 6 years.

We are looking to move abroad on a permanent basis but are unsure which country would be the best for us to live. Could anyone give some suggestions? We are willing to learn a new language if needed and it would be roughly January when we could move. (Anywhere hot is a definite!)

Thank you!

Hello :). Welcome to BE.

For EU citizens a move within the EU is the easiest way of working aboard. The US is one of the hardest countries to move to and from what you have said I doubt that a move there will be possible. Canada, Australia and NZ are popular...and of course there is always Asia.

I suggest you take a look down the following list of BE forums and if anything takes your interest post question in there. We also have information about various counties in the BE Wiki.

Good luck.

It always amazes me that people feel confident about learning a new language just as a little aside to moving. I suppose English can be used fairly widely.

I'm not sure what that has to do with welcoming new members to BE.

Sorry Sarah, welcome. I was just mulling over your situation.

As Jerseygirl says, the US is probably out, but take a look at the other sections of the site. Would you go back to China?

Welcome to the forum :)

As Jerseygirl says, take a look around the forum. There is a ton of information on here. Much research to do but that is part of the fun of it. all the best

I personally would discuss which country you both would enjoy then look to see if you could obtain a visa to allow you work and live in that country.
