trucking in canada or aussie
 
hello all... have just signed up too british expats.com. I am an experienced pcv driver. I have just recently passed my hgv class 1 and looking too get to Canada or Australia. I lived in Calgary in 2009 working for Calgary transit as a bus driver. am looking for a return with my partner and would love any tips as a new truck driver thanks all ;)

I don't think truck driving is on the skills list for Australia which rules out all skilled visas, unless your partner has a skilled occupation in demand. I looked at going to OZ before Canada but they dont regard truck driving as a skill.I heard NZ were doing work permits for trucker but may have stopped that now.If you have PR it should be a little easier for you as you wont have to do long haul.Does your partner want to drive ,have you thought of team driving?I work out of Winnipeg ,the only company I could advise is Bison Transport their HQ is in Wpeg but have yard or terminal in Calgary maybe drivers from Calgary can help you there.
