Taking the plunge

Hi everyone,

I can't believe anyone will be interested, but it seems I'm expected to furnish some details about myself, so here goes.

I was born at a very early age in a mining village in northern England, and grew up in the normal way, eventually graduating to long pants, long hair and aspirations of rock stardom. My early career in accountancy came to an abrupt end when I inadvertently dropped Lady Borg Ropner (deceased)'s Fourth Children's Settlement file down a toilet. I almost had a normal teaching career until I discovered learning difficulties and somehow became the Head of a special school. My wife and I have lived in France since 2002, latterly in Haute Vienne, which we describe to prospective visitors as the French Midlands, to put them off.

I'm retired now, and spend my time gardening, folk singing, fishing, drinking wine and generally being a layabout. Oh, and I've written articles for two French newspapers (both of which subsequently went into liquidation. . .) and just recently had a book published about my ex-pat life in France.

This is starting to sound like a job application, so I'll stop there and continue exploring this forum.
