query about renewing UK passport as a UK/USA dual citizen ?

query about renewing UK passport as a UK/USA dual citizen ?
Hi
Thanks for letting me join.
I need to renew my UK passport - question is do I need to also send in my USA passport with the paperwork. I do not want to since I want to travel to Spain on my USA passport while the UK one is being renewed. My understanding I can travel on my US passport to Spain, and ensure I have proof I am resident /A UK citizen when I return back into the UK when using my US passport.
Can anyone clarify please ?
