Default Northumberland Ex Pats in New Zealand

Hello to all members

Myself and the family are near Hamilton, the family consists of
my wife, young daughter and the Newfie called Hagrid.

We came over on a Residence Visa without work but since being
here Carole has secured a Part-Time PE job, we are hoping that
this may become permanent.

I am a retired UK Police Officer and have just started to look for work
in the Domestic Violence Arena which I am familiar with.

I visit a couple of other NZ Forums trying to get fully informed.

Hi higgy2,

Welcome to BE.

We've got a great New Zealand forum with loads of great people who hang out there, so I'm sure you will make a few new friends.

So pop on by and say hi: http://britishexpats.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=83

How are you enjoying New Zealand so far? Had you visited prior to moving there?

Never been to NZ prior to emigration, no jobs, but a place to
stay until we sort things out.

My wife has secured a Part-Time Teaching job and I am considering
doing some Swimming Instruction locally. The pay ia awful but it
would help with Networking.

Love the place

Hi higgy2,

How are you finding Hamilton? I'm moving to new Zealand in October and considering locating there. I'm also a teacher (Maths). Did your wife find work relatively easy?

Thanks

Allan

Hamilton is fine, everything you need, we live a few miles from
the city.

Maths being your subject I think you will find work quite quickly, we went
out in the car dropping off Caroles CV at all the Schools and Hey Presto she lands a Part-Time job. We do need the full time though.

Best of luck, anything else you need feel free to email.

Higgy

Glad you are enjoying it there.

You sound like us, we came to the US having never been here before. It certainly was an adventure in the early days.

As this area is for Intro only really, I wouldn't normally post like this to here but I wouldn't want to see a false hope raised.

Higgy2's wife seems to have netted herself part-time teaching work. As you know from this previous thread, finding teaching work is hard so this is really good going and well done to her.

Higgy2 has also gone on so say this so realises he was basing this on just his wife's experience and his thoughts about Math as a subject.

I'd suggest that you post up a thread again into the NZ board and hope to have a further conversation with teachers both here and in the UK.
We have Moso here on NZ ground and J19fmm who is a teacher in the UK who has been trying to emigrate to NZ for quite some while .

regards
