Newbie to BE from Mexico
Hi everyone,
I am brand new to this type of thing but I am from England living now in Mexico and I am interested to know if anyone has had their British passport expire and then had to renew from overseas, I am trying to renew my passport that expired in 1992 and I had been living outside of the country for a long time and now wish to travel again, I know I have to get a new passport not renew because my appearance has changed so much. Any comments or info would be greatly appreciated and anyone that wants to contact me and chat also that would be great.

I've moved your post into a thread of it's own...as it gives us a better chance to welcome you to our community.
As your UK PP expired over 10 years ago you will have to apply as a first time applicant...which means it will take longer to process. If you look at the UK's Embassy in Mexico's website it will tell you what address to send your application to. At the moment Brits living in the US and Canada have to apply to Washington DC and it's taking 3-4 months for renewals. I suggest you repost your questions in our Mexico forum...hopefully someone living in Mexico will be able to help you further. If you have to apply to Washington DC for your PP...please come back to this thread and I'll give you the link to a thread that's currently running for Brits in the US and Canada.
BE is a large expat website...so it's understandable that you may have problems finding your way around our many forums. We have a team of concierges who will act as your tour guides to direct you around the website. You can find a list of their names at the bottom right hand side of this page.
All other questions, problems or concerns should be addressed to a moderator...the mods for the Mexico forum are Sue and Mitzyboy. Although if they are not around any of the mods will be more than pleased to help you...there's usually one of us around 24/7.
Please give me a shout if I can help you with anything and I look forward to seeing you around the forums.

Hi Mrclean,
Welcome to BE, I'm so pleased you have joined our little virtual community.
As JG mentioned it seems you need to apply via Washington. Details here, and there is a delay, although things seem to be improving slightly. There is a massive thread about this in our USA forum here.
Anyway welcome again and I hope you enjoy using BE
