newbie hello and help

hello,
myself, my wife and our two children are looking for pastures new, currently we live in York, we are 41, 35, 13 and 10 years old. work wise I am a reasonably newly qualified electrician (3 years) and my wife is a dental nurse / practice manager with a good background in hairdressing.

Canada would top the list of places we would like to live followed by Australia and New Zealand.

we have joined the forums as everyone seems so friendly and there always seems to be someone with the personal experience to answer any questions anyone has.

So basically where do we start? would our qualifications gain us entry to any of the above countries? any links would be much appreciated, also is it worth involving a company to help us out with all of this or is it a waste of time and money?

Thanks
Paul & Jo x

Hi Paul and Jo,
I would say with your qualifications you shouldn't have too many problems. It would be worth one of you finding a job prior to coming here as very often the company are willing to apply and obtain your work permit for you and it's almost a prerequisite to coming to the country. My company employed an immigration specialist which made things rather easier, although there is a fair bit of info required from your side such as supplying police checks etc from the UK . If you need any further info or help from this side please feel free to drop me an email. <snip>

Hello and welcome to the forum

Noted that you're considering 3 countries. Your best bet is to research through each country's section on here. Each country has information on Immigration. Have a good read through, then ask some questions.

Hope it all works out for you.
