Default New mum moving to Houston TX in August

Hi All,

I'm moving with my partner and baby boy in August to Houston. I don't know anything yet so I'm busy researching. I wonder if any other mums out there have any advice re childcare etc?

Hello and a big welcome to BE.

Excellent information can be found in the BE Wiki, not forgetting the Living and Moving Abroad forum that will help you, another set of great help is the permanent threads at the TOP of each forum, they are very pertinent to that particular forum and makes sensible reading.

Moderators deal with any problems that arise such as inappropriate posts, spammers etc, you will find their names at the bottom right hand side of each forum's index in bold font.

Please contact me if I can give you any further help.

Welcome to BE and good luck

You say partner and not spouse though? Unless you're married, you're not getting a derivative visa, which would complicated things.

Anyway, plenty of threads covering Houston so you should get most of the basics to your questions by having a browse and as mentioned, the wiki above is also a great place to start

Hi Bob
Yes although we are unmarried, I'm getting a working visa as I will be working for the same company also.
Thanks for your help

Hi Lizzie

Welcome to BE from me too.
Glad to see you are already finding your feet on our USA forum, which is a great place to find out information from other expats living and working in your new neighbourhood to be, as well as a great way to meet some new friends.
That just leaves me to wish you all the very best with your move - oh and congrats on the little man.

How old? We use a Primrose school, and we find that very good. I think they do 6-6.
