Default Need Help/Support/Guidance

Hello all,

I am interesting in moving to either Japan/USA/Canada but do not know the process how to go with it. From what I can gather you need to have a job ready for your arrival or marry a native. Due to being engaged myself the latter is unlikely to happen so I must look to the first one.

I am 21 years old and a University Graduate so I fit the requirements of needing a degree to enter the above countries but lack the job.

What I am asking for is some help on how to enter these countries and websites/opportunities to work in them. Also how I might go about immigrating across with me fiancee.

Thank you for your help.

Hi there, and welcome to BE.

I've no idea about Japan, but certainly for Canada or the US you would usually require a job offer to get a visa. Canada is a lot easier for most people to get in to than the US, which is nigh on impossible unless you have specialist skills or are married to a US citizen.

The best thing to do would be to have a look in the main country forums, where you will find loads of information and can also post a thread to ask about visas for each country. Do also look in the Wiki (on blue bar at top of page), which should help too.

Hopefully see you in the Canada forum sometime.

Hello and welcome to BE.

I suggest you take a look down the list of countries in the Living and Moving Abroad forum and take a read through the threads in some of the forums. Also take a look in the BE Wiki...there's loads of information in there.

BE is a large expat website...so it's understandable that you may have problems finding your way around our many forums. We have a team of concierges who will direct you around the website. You can find a list of their names at the bottom right hand side of this page.

For all other problems or concerns please contact a moderator...their names are located at the bottom right hand side of each forum's index page. Moderators' names are in bold font.

Before you post please read any 'sticky' threads or announcements that are posted at the top of each forum's index page.

Please give me a shout if you need any help.

Welcome to BE and good luck!

Folks have pointed you at the forums to look at...but thought I'd throw out, being young, you can do the workers holiday visa in Canada, don't know about Japan, but that's not a option in the US.

As a recent graduate, you might be able to get a internship in the US, so look at the J1.

Japan, best option is via teaching English, hard work, shit money, but it's fairly doable as Japan is also very hard to get into without a job lined up.

Hello 01lwilliams,

I left the UK for Canada to live with relatives so long ago —and so much has changed— that I'm not of any help myself ... however, the others have given you some excellent advice, and Jerseygirl has given you the pertinent links and info. to get you started here. But I can and do bid you welcome and greetings from Ontario, Canada!

With every good wish,
Christian

Regrettably I know nothing about Japan, never been there, but suspect that Bob is correct in what he says.

We have a few posters who post occasionally in the main section of the Far East forum here http://britishexpats.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=59 so feel free to try your luck and maybe put a posting on there. There's nothing to lose.

All the best.
