Default Moving out of the UK

Brilliant forum, would be great to get advice from members on a potential move abroad.

Born and lived in Kenya for 10 yrs, now a Briitish citizen for the last 20 years..I have my own business in the UK specialising in Natural Stone for high end interiors (supplied and carried out installation on a number of apartments @ One Hyde Park).

My wife is a Chartered Architect with 5 years experience and we have a 8 month old boy...we are seriously considering moving abroad (open to ideas and where would be suited best for our baby).

Would be great to hear from people who are moving/moved that were in a similar position to us.

Hello and welcome aboard.

Australia and Canada are the most popular destinations...it is extremely difficult for Brits to move to the US. Of course Europe is easy peasy...no visas are required to live and work in EU countries. I suggest you take a look down the list of countries in the Living and Moving Abroad forum and take a read through the threads in some of the forums. Also take a look in the BE Wiki...there's loads of information in there.

BE is a large expat website...so it's understandable that you may have problems finding your way around our many forums. We have a team of concierges who will direct you around the website. You can find a list of their names at the bottom right hand side of this page.

For all other problems or concerns please contact a moderator...their names are located at the bottom right hand side of each forum's index page. Moderators' names are in bold font.

Before you post please read any 'sticky' threads or announcements that are posted at the top of each forum's index page.

Please give me a shout if you need any help.

Kia Ora and welcome to BE.

Have a good ole browse around the world of BE and pop into any of the country forums to ask any questions you might have.

Hi i2avi and big welcome to BE. I suppose first question is Which countries/regions do you like? Have you travelled to any other countries apart from Kenya? Is there anywhere you've taken a holiday which appeals?

Holidays very different from living in a place, but it's a good starting point.

Do take a browse around the forum and post a few questions.... and don't be shy We don't bite.

Thanks all for the pointers, the key for us is finding out where my wife's RIBA qualification is valid...in terms of holiday destinations where we have been that appeal:
United States
Dubai (not sure if Architect jobs are in demand)

Other then those... Australia seems very popular and Singapore sounds good for a family lifestyle.

That sounds like you've got a headstart then. Try putting some questions in those country forums... should get some answers. All the best.
