Middle East or Malaysia - no idea yet, but hello anyway
 

Hi all, just joined after spending a bit of time lurking and reading through the forums. Looks like a genuinely useful community so thought I'd say hello.

Background: 11+ years in telecoms, mostly enterprise and wholesale contracts. Was made redundant earlier this year and it's prompted a proper rethink about what's next, including where "next" actually is.

I've been seriously considering a move to the Middle East (yes, I know the timing is interesting) or possibly Malaysia/Singapore. Nothing decided yet, just at the research stage and trying to understand the realistic options, particularly around the business landscape and long-term residency routes. Both regions appeal for different reasons and I'm genuinely undecided.

I've done a fair bit of reading over the last few years on the Gulf specifically, so happy to chip in where I can, but I'm very much here to learn from people who've actually lived it. The forum looks well structured by region which is exactly what I need.

Already read through the FAQs and site rules so I'll do my best to stay on the right side of the moderators!

Looking forward to getting stuck in.
