Default Living in UK temporarily confused about everything

I have been living in England for about 6 months looking after my elderly mum, but plan to return to Arizona and my husband when she passes away. I have both British and US passports. I seem to be in a no man's land!
The local GP has said I don't qualify for NHS would have thought I did. Luckily I still have US health insurance for now but not sure how much longer.
I'm not earning so presumably won't owe taxes?

What am I in England? A visitor? A resident? Any guidance would be appreciated.

I’m guessing you’re living with your mother and there is nothing official being addressed to you there?

Welcome to BE.

I have been living in England for about 6 months looking after my elderly mum,
Was this move permanent? I would suggest not, therefore you have been visiting the UK, not living there,

The local GP has said I don't qualify for NHS would have thought I did.
Since you're not a UK resident, that's correct.

I'm not earning so presumably won't owe taxes?
This does not, by itself, mean you don't have to file US taxes. UK taxes are a different matter since they are PAYE and you haven't worked.

What am I in England? A visitor? A resident?
I would say a visitor, since your stay is presumably temporary in nature, but this is really for you to determine.

To the OP, please repost as directed by JerseyGirl. This is not the forum for questions and answers since its sole purpose is introductions. The UK forum that JG directed you to is staffed with people knowledgeable on all things UK, i.e. GP and UK benefits.
