Lived abroad since 1992 did 5 weeks' PAYE work in UK QUESTION ABOUT P60 & tax
 

I'd be so grateful if someone could possibly move this into the appropriate section of the forum :)

I've lived abroad for over 20 years, but did 5 weeks' work in the UK in 2013, my first work in the country during the whole time I've lived abroad. It was paid PAYE and totalled around £4,200 gross. NI and pension were deducted, total approx £600, no tax was deducted.

I had given them my address abroad, but on my payslip they used my mum's UK address.

I suppose my P60 will also have my Mum's address on then?

What should I do? Should I ask for my (EU) home address to be on it, or leave it as it is?

Will I receive a UK tax return? If so, when and what will I have to do?

Apart from the work I did in the Uk, I earned very little in 2013, but I suppose I should declare the Uk work here, or doesn't it count seeing as I paid NI?

Thanks for any advice you might have got for me.

File a P85 and let HMRC know you've left the country. You can put your overseas address on there and they will send any letters/rebates to that address.

Thank you ever so much!

That form is for people just leaving the UK now though, and I left in 1992.

It asks other things that don't apply to me too, like what job I'll be doing abroad etc but I haven't got a job as such.

But you returned and worked last year so use those dates. Write 'Not Applicable' for anything that doesn't apply.

Oh ok, so those five weeks would count as living there then. Of course it felt like visiting!

I've downloaded the form and will send it off soon.
