Just starting our Oz Journey!
 

Hi there,

I've already posted, but thought I'd come and say hello here too!

We're just putting the finishing touches on a new contract to move to Sydney for 2+ years (on a 457 visa), with the wife & 2 children

Already been a rollercoaster of excitement and anxiety - and we've not really began yet! But, forums like this one have been invaluable in our research.

That said, we're not entirely alien to the process - we've lived overseas a couple of times before (Czech Republic & India), so we sort of know what to expect!

Our biggest worries at the moment relate the visa timings vs giving notice on our current property etc (not much we can do about that), getting a rental property in Sydney without any local references (but will of course have employment already, with a pretty strong income), and getting the children into a good school.

Nothing insurmountable of course - and there'll be plenty more challenges to come no doubt.

Thanks for introducing yourself and telling us a bit about your plans. As an Aussie I feel duty bound to say that you've made a good choice :lol: I hail from the other side of the island, Perth.

I'm glad you've found BE useful so far, there's certainly a lot of experience and expertise on this site. Looking forward to hearing more about your experiences as you pack up and move.

site rules all look fair & reasonable :)

Just accepted the formal offer & contract this evening - so it's pretty much official (subject to visas etc of course!)
