Default International Joint Savings Account

Hello,
My British partner, and I (American) are trying to save for our wedding. We think that having a joint bank account will help with the application for spouse visa as proof of our relationship. Does anyone have any experience with transferring money from a US bank account to a UK bank account? Is this possible? Is this available cheaply and LEGALLY?

Thanks!
Vanessa

Welcome to BE

Please take a few minutes to read the site rules, beige bar at the top, and, should you have any problems with the site please contact one of the moderators, names in bold at the bottom right of the forum page.

Do you have an account in the UK already, if so using one of the currency transfer companies would be the best way to go, however if the account isn't yet a joint account you may have problems adding a name from another country.

Welcome to BE Vanessa.

Transferring money from the US to the U.K. is an easy process...one many of us do regularly. Not sure if you will be able to add the name of a non UK resident to your bank account. Best to ask your bank. I suggest you post your questions in our UK forum. We also have an excellent Immigration forum. The forum regulars will walk you through the visa process.

Please let me know if you run into any site related problems. Good luck.
