Hi there - Newbie in Toronto

I am new to this sort of thing, I have moved to Toronto from Edinburgh, been here a few days now and trying to find my bearings. It is really difficult to make the exchange as I feel like I keep comparing everything to the UK, well except the weather.....

I am in to keeping fit and socialising with friends, though still to make some :fingerscrossed:!!!!

Hi Debi and welcome to B.E. :)

It's my pleasant duty to welcome you to the forum and give you a point of contact should you need any help with the site in general. You can contact me here.

A list of all the moderators and helpers with their relevant countries including Canada can be found here.

Any problems, dont hesitate to PM me.

I've been away from the UK for 4 and half years now. I used to compare all the time. I think everybody does for a while; it's only natural. But now I rarely compare and you'll find that as you stop comparing, life gets better.

Other people will be along to give you hand I'm sure.

Have a look here: http://britishexpats.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=56

Enjoy B. E. :)

Alistair.

Hi there and welcome to BE Debie.

Although I live in New Jersey, US...I spend a fair bit of time in T.O. because my daughter lives there. Hope you've got plenty of warm clothes. :D

We have a great crowd of people who frequent out Canada Forums...why don't you pop over there and say hello? They quite often have meet ups in the city after work...I just may join them sometime. ;)

Before you begin to post please read through all the sticky threads or announcements that may be posted at the top of the forum's index page. Also take a look in the BE Wiki...you'll find loads of helpful information in there.

If you have any problems finding your way around the many BE forums AmyDavid and The Aviator are concierges for the Canada forums...they will act as your tour guides and guide you around the forums.

For any other problems please contact a moderator. The mods for the Canada forums are Iaink and Christmasoompa...although any mod or admin will be pleased to help you.

Please give me a shout if you need any help. :)

Hi Debbie

Welcome to BE from me too.
I think it is perfectly normal to find things a bit strange when you first move to a new country.
You have definitely come to the right place and will find the Canada forum a great place to get any help and information to help you through the settling in process, as well as make new friends at the meet ups.

Good luck with everything.

Hi Debbie,

Hope you enjoying Toronto? I've been thinking seriously about moving to Canada over the last few months, and was just wondering what motivated you to make the move (and from where)? I currently live in London but after 7 years here I'm looking for something a little different now and believe Canada would give me that - how have you been settling in? What have been the biggest challenges you found moving there? How friendly have you found the people?

Sorry for all the questions - just interested and excited about finding out a little more about live in Canada...
