CRS TAX FORM
Hello everyone,
I was wondering if someone could help me with a letter that I have received from my bank in the UK.
I have been resident and paying tax in France for the past 4 years and hold and uk bank account that has not been incurring interest during this time.
I have not declared it up until now as I didn't think that I had to as it is not earing interest. I have received a letter from my bank stating that due to new international tax legislation, the Common Reporting Standard, I need to confirm where I am resident via the form they have sent me. They will then share this information with the French tax authorities. Will I have to pay tax even though the account is not earning interest? Will I have to pay a penalty for not declaring it at all?
Any advice would be much appreciated, thank you.
