We moved to Lapland in Sweden 5 years ago and still love it. The peace and quiet is wonderful.

My brother just returned from 2 months travelling around NZ - again. His third visit and he loves it there.

Swedish....oh where to start,I don't think I was prepared for learning the alphabet all over again let alone extra vowels,but finally the penny is dropping and I am getting the hang of it,how are you doing?The biggest problem I find is I know what I should be saying and how it should sound but actually making the sounds is another thing entirley,my brain just dosen't want to play sometimes.Living in an extremley rural location my redundant English clothes sit abandoned in the back of the wardrobe, fit it seems for nothing here and I have definately learned to chill out!

Best advise we had was buy all your winter clothes in Sweden. Ended up buying some from Canada (mail order) and rest here. Swedish coming along OK. I thought it would be a case of simply learning new words and using them. No one in my family told me the Swedes jumble up the word order and don't us 'the'! The exclamation mark is nice though. Used a lot more and not so 'loud' in Swedish. Plenty of French words and so much English on the TV, even the Swedish channel adverts. Love the recent Jamie Oliver ad.:rofl:
