I have just registered, Will give a little info about me. I live in Bonny Scotland and we as a family are hoping to take the plunge and move over to Oz within the next few years. I have been attempting research on Brisbane and hubby will start applying for jobs very soon in the hope that something will happen.
We are a family of 7 :) Myself Hubby one gorgeous boy and 4 delightful girls.
We have been thinking about emigrating ever since we married 16 years ago and now its now or never.
Any advice will be gratefully appreciated. Hoping to meet people from Scotland who are taking the plunge or have already done it, also people who live in Brisbane(subject to jobs) and can advice on Schooling, healthcare, basically how everything works so we dont feel too overwhelmed if and when this happens

It is not as simple (or necessasirly even a good idea) to start applying for jobs.

The first issue is visas and do you qualify for one. The first step is to see if either of you have an occupation on one of the two lists known as SOL and CSOL.

Then, you would need to check points and ensure who ever is to be the main applicant can score enough. Be aware, it may be necessary to sit English exams.

Then, you need to check what is required for the skilled assessment and that the applicant can pass it.

Then, ensure that all members of the family can pass the medical and police checks.
