Hello! Moving to Rome next year..need help!
Hi there
I just joined this site today! I am planning to move to Roma beginning of September 2013 and need some straight answers about legally living and working there. I am a newly qualified English teacher, EU citizen and totally confused about the certifato di residenza! When I go over, I will be self employed doing private tutoring in the hopes of getting some contract hours at a school once I'm there. Obviously I have done as much research as I can but actually speaking to a person at the Consulate in Rome and London is impossible! I obviously know that I need my passport, proof of health insurance and proof of address. I specifically need to know the following:
a) If I am not able to get a contract for a while, and therefore self employed, would they accept a bank statement of savings or past income from when I was in London? Does the bank account have to be italian?!
b) I will be renting a room in shared accommodation therefore I probably won't have a formal contract. Does this matter as long as they have the address?
Anybody out there who has had to apply for the certificate, any advice would be so helpful!!!
Thanks guys!

Hello and a warm to the forum. As you can see I am based in Malaysia so not much help to you.
Do please take a look in the Italy section of this forum. You can follow the link below

Maybe start a new thread on there and copy and paste your questions? There's a good bunch of folks in there to help you out, so don't be shy.
All the best with your plans. Rome sounds like a very nice place to be.

Hello and a big welcome to BE.
Excellent information can be found in the BE Wiki, not forgetting the Living and Moving Abroad forum that will help you, another set of great help is the permanent threads at the TOP of each forum, they are very pertinent to that particular forum and makes sensible reading.
Moderators deal with any problems that arise such as inappropriate posts, spammers etc, you will find their names at the bottom right hand side of each forum's index in bold font.
Please contact me if I can give you any further help.
