Hello to from McAllen Texas
Hello I am Amanda I am new to the site and in need of some british TLC, the expats here seem to be none existent which is tough, if you are out then please give me a shout, or any where south of texas is a bonus.
I know I live in the back of beyond but meeting up or talking / chatting to english people would be a bonus and lift me up.
If you can point in any direction would be much appreciated, I moved here due to my job and left my family back in Manchester so it gets pretty lonely at times I have to say. Weekends are the toughest for me, being a city girl with lots to do in Manchester then moving here its like a big reality check for me.
Look forward to hearing from anyone out that.

You've come to right place to connect with Brits. I see you have already posting in the US Meet-ups Forum. I know we have quite a few members living in Texas...I also know Texas is one heck of a big place! Even if we don't have anyone who lives near you...you can always log on here for a chat or a shoulder to cry on...there's usually someone around.
Why don't you pop over there to our US Forums and take a look around?
If you require any assistance finding your way around BE's many forums we have a team of concierges who will act as your tour guide...they will be pleased to help you. The concierge for the US forums is Kaffy Mintcake...please contact her if you need pointing in the right direction.
If you have any problems or concerns please contact a mod or admin. The mods for the US forums are Bob and MsElui. Although you can contact any mod or admin...there is usually one of us around 24/7.
Please give me a shout if you need any help.

Oh my Amanda!
Do you happen to be a nurse?
You are living in one of the poorest parts of the country, where people honestly only live because they need the climate to retire, or have big family they don't want to leave behind.
Having said this - there is a Scottish club in the LRGV (lower Rio Grande Valley) that does Burns night.... I do not know if there are clubs for any other of the British nations.

has the address of the Scottish Society - they are wonderful, mostly older people. They would remember my grandparents and possibly me.
