Hello Everyone - from Toronto - been here 13 years now
Hello Everyone,
I’ve been living North of Toronto for just over 13 years after working for just over a year in Trinidad. My family came with me and started school just after we arrived - they were 10 & 12 years old then. I studied engineering, became a paramedic in Bristol UK and now work in construction safety and my wife, originally from Malaysia and trained and worked as a nurse and midwife in the UK for 20 years could not get a job as a nurse here so started her own business as a doula, supporting families during birth and for the one to two months after with their newborns. Lots of hurdles and barriers along the way that I’m sure everyone on here has held their fair share of. We are now dual British/Canadians and the kids are just about finishing school (1 vet & 1 masters in Microbiology - both at U of Guelph). Looking forward to meeting some folks and picking some brains on how to retire…
