I'm a newbie and just beginning to find my way around here. Looks like a very friendly community and look forward to getting to know you all.

As you can tell by my userrname I'm Scottish but I've been a resident of the good 'ol USA for 25 years-all of which has been spent living in the high plateau of northern Nevada. Just a wee bit different from Scotland!

You may want to check out our USA forum where you can chat with plenty of other expats who are living and working in the US. You can access this forum by clicking the 'forum index' tab on the top lft corner of this page. Scroll down the list of countries, double click on USA and you're in. You will probably find a fair few expats living in th same state as you.
With 25 years living in the USA, you will also be a great source of useful information for any new folks heading to live in Nevada.

So enjoy the forum and have some fun chatting to fellow expats along the way

High plateau of Nevada comparable with Scottish Highlands? Maybe many things alike, except of course the Glens, Lochs and the Scotch Whisky

Excellent information can be found in the BE Wiki, not forgetting the Living and Moving Abroad forum that will help you, another set of great help is the permanent threads at the TOP of each forum, they are very pertinent to that particular forum and makes sensible reading.

Moderators deal with any problems that arise such as inappropriate posts, spammers etc, you will find their names at the bottom right hand side of each forum's index in bold font.

BTW-can you imagine what my culture shock was like when I moved from Scotland to the dessert? Oh my - it was awful at first, it took about two years to adjust and I almost went back a few times. Glad I saw it through and stayed put though!

I would imagine it was quite some change which would definitely take a while to acclimatise - rather like two ends of a spectrum !!
