Hello from Canada
 

Hi all,

Just joined the forum and have already found useful info. We are Canadians who have been vacationing in Europe regularly for the last ten years. We have family there and after the obligatory visit every year, then spend about 3 weeks vacationing. Mostly Western Europe. As we're approaching retirement we have been considering getting a small place in either Italy or France. After much research (for the last 3 years) we are leaning towards France. Initially we're looking at a vacation home which may become full time as we retire. My OH is an EU citizen so we should not have an issue with residency.

In the meantime I'm still gathering as much information as I can, looking for advice and any suggestions on what to watch out for.

So for now I'd just like to say hi and hope to get to know some of you as we go along. I'll be looking at the France and Italy sections for more info.

Excellent information can be found in the BE Wiki, not forgetting the Living and Moving Abroad forum that will help you, another set of great help is the permanent threads at the TOP of each forum, they are very pertinent to that particular forum and makes sensible reading.

Moderators deal with any problems that arise such as inappropriate posts, spammers etc, you will find their names at the bottom right hand side of each forum's index in bold font.
