I'm hoping to spend my retirement years in my Mothers homeland, Italy.

I see you've found the Italy forum but it seems that the members there are having a long sleep. While you wait for replies, please have a look at the general BE forums, such as the Lounge, and perhaps Take It Outside if you like political discussions.
