Hi There.
My name is Bob and I currently live in Nth Yorkshire. My partner (Clare) and I are considering moving to the La Rabita, Granada area of Spain after lockdown and selling our house here in UK . Our first step will be to go there and look around the region to see if we like it. We will be looking for a property Cortjo / Finca that is basically liveable that we can do up . We can do a lot of the work ourselves ( I am retired from the construction industry).
We would welcome any feedback / comments about the area . We have seen properties online that "need services connecting. Is this expensive? I know it would depend on how far it is to bring it. Is it possible to do the laying of pipes, cables myself ?. Are kitchens expensive ?

Please have a quick read of the forum rules see strap line at the top, and should you have any forum related problems please contact one of the moderators, names in black at the bottom of each forum page.
Your question would be better asked in the Spain forum https://britishexpats.com/forum/spain-75/ where there are plenty of people who would love to help, some have done just what you are wanting to do. Please be aware that planning rules etc are very different from the UK as to what you can do yourself, plumbing and electrical are extremely different.

Hi, and welcome to the Forum! I live in France, but the issue of "partner status" is almost universal on the Continent.
In France for example, the Laws of Inheritance and Succession are a minefield for couples not legally bound, especially if there are children from previous relationships. Check on the Spain forum whether Spain is as "partner-UNfriendly" as France, before purchasing a property jointly., even if no children are involved.
As said, building standards and regulations on the Continent are different from the UK and those on the Spain forum can help and advise.
