G'Day
Hello all
I'm one month into my new position as Systems Analyst for a large financial services company and have been recommended by a colleague to join. Therefore here I go introducing myself
I'm from the city of Sheffield but moved to Saint Albans to commute into London when I took the job in 2004. I've been in the company who I've emigrated with for 10 years now, starting as a developer before moving into systems analyst. I absolutely love my job and love the challenges of systems analyst
I previously worked for this company at Canary Wharf but have been instructed to take part in this new venture of developing and improving system software in Australia and New Zealand. Hence me working in Sydney for 3 days and Christchurch for 2 days. It's weird having a commute by air.
I'm here for at least 5 years and managed to get both Skilled Migrant Visas for Australia and New Zealand, thanks to the company's immigration lawyer experts. I thought that would be a challenge but it worked. The only issue will be the constant stamping of the British passport, i'll be needing a 360 page document until I can obtain citizenship, if I decide to stay permanently. It's the reason why I'm here for the 5 years as agreed by the company
I am hoping to move the family across at some point since they're remaining in England for the time being. It's quite hard having to say farewell to the parents and the in laws especially with kids. Luckily they're only 3 and 1. I don't know where to move them to, both cities have their positives and negatives.. I'm currently hoteling for the month at the Novotels in Sydney and Christchurch. I'll be finding permanent accommodation come June so that the family will have a base, it's just hard deciding where to go.
I look forward to discussing in the Australian and New Zealand forums on here and look forward to receiving advice from experienced habitants of the cities concerned.
Have a good day!!!

Re: G'Day
wow what a fantastic opportunity. Think the decision on where you lay the family hat will come down to how long you will be doing the 3 day 2 day and where the weekends fall into that factor and obviously where your wife wants to be.
