Derek in Mesa, Arizona.

Hello.

My name is Derek. I moved from Ayrshire, with wife and 2 kids, to Arizona in 2000, so I've been living here for almost 12 years. Didn't find out about this forum until today.

I'd like to think I've experienced everything an ex-pat can experience during a move to the US; elementary school all the way to college, medical care, mortgages, taxes, etc. In 2000 the internet wasn't quite as well stocked with info as it is today, and I was still using dial-up, so I learned all this the hard way.

Anyway, if anyone wants advice about Arizona or the US, I'd be happy to share my learnings and thoughts.

cheers

working in the semiconductor industry since 1990. Was working in Milan in 1999, and met a guy from Phoenix office of the same company who said I'd be a good fit. I'm a process engineer on CVD-epitaxy reactors.

Well, small world, small industry!!

Welcome to BE Derek.

I'm in Chandler, been here with Mrs HTS (Harry The Spider) just over 15 months or so, working for a semiconductor company too. I'm responsible for sales training world wide.

We're just starting to look at mortgages etc, so may well pick your brains at some point.

Cheers

HTS

Well I am so pleased that you have found us and I hope you will stick around. We've got a great bunch who hang out here and I'm sure you will enjoy getting to know them all :)

BE's been around 12 years as well (I can't believe it where has the time gone). Our son was 6 when myself and hubby started the site and now he's in his first year of university ... makes me feel soooo old :D

Hello and a big welcome to BE.

Excellent information can be found in the BE Wiki, not forgetting the Living and Moving Abroad forum that will help you, another set of great help is the permanent threads at the TOP of each forum, they are very pertinent to that particular forum and makes sensible reading.

Moderators deal with any problems that arise such as inappropriate posts, spammers etc, you will find their names at the bottom right hand side of each forum's index in bold font.

Please contact me if I can give you any further help.

Rosemary
