Default Your picks for best K1 homepages?

Hi everyone!!

In addition to all the K1 FAQ sites, Service Center processing times sites, and official government immigration sites, there are dozens and dozens of personal homepages dedicated to describing couples' personal K1 sagas. It is truly amazing how many are out there, and a select few are real gems -- with clear, concise descriptions of personal K1 timelines, tips for what items to include in the petition and to bring to the interview, links to other helpful sites, and just overall reassurance that this thing CAN be done. The layout and navigation of some of these sites is absolutely superb, and make it really enjoyable to visit them in addition to just being super-helpful.

What are your personal favorite K1 personal homepages?

Here are my top picks (so far!):

American Immigration: K1 Visa Style
Ben (US) & Jennie (UK)
http://www.geocities.com/ben_jennie/Frames/k1main.html

Becky & Dan's K1 Visa Experience
Becky (US) & Dan (UK)
http://kheryn.com/k1/index.html

Jan & Tish K1 Visa Pages
Jan (Neth) & Tish (US)
http://www.skyweb.net/~rlls/visa.html

Add your favorites to the list!!

For what it is worth, the Jan and Tish homepage you listed are the very two same people that maintain the Mysterious Brown Envelope page and its other experience sites for this newsgroup. Have you listed your homepage on their listing of homepages for perusal?

As may I ask, why a competition? Why eliminate someone who does not have computer savvy but who has taken the time and effort to set up a page to assist others?

Wow, I didn't know that! Well, they're doing an excellent job.

Have you listed your homepage on their listing of homepages for perusal?

We don't have a homepage yet because we haven't yet started the K1 process. We are just in the preliminary stages of researching all the ins and outs, which is why we've found these sites so helpful. Once we've started the process, we plan to have our own homepage, and we'll post our URL and/or information on various K1 timeline sites.

As may I ask, why a competition? Why eliminate someone who does not have computer savvy but who has taken the time and effort to set up a page to assist others?

There is no "competition" -- just recognition of those homepages which are well-thought-out and thorough. My intention was not to slight or offend anyone!

I have just found that certain homepages (and other kinds of websites, for that matter) offer more detailed information and explanations than others, while using a format which is easily navigated. That is what I meant by the word "best." It's not about flash and graphics and lots of blinking icons. It's not even about having tons and tons of information. It's about having a thorough, organized site that is ALSO easy for anyone to go through in order to gain further knowledge on a particular subject.

I think most everyone here would agree that the K1 FAQ site (http://www.k1faq.com/index.html) is one of the best K1 sites around, chock-full of great information and advice -- but there's nothing fancy about it at all. It's an excellent site because it offers detailed information in a user-friendly format. The K1 personal homepages I mentioned are set up the same way -- detailed yet with easy navigation -- some with graphics and some without. If there's a homepage out there that is set up using a traditional outline format, with no graphics, clickable links or pages jumps, but which is organized in its detailed information, then people should know about it.

Anyway, I'm sorry if I offended anyone. That was never my intention. I was just hoping people would share personal K1 sites they'd also found thorough, helpful and user-friendly. I apologize if it was misinterpreted differently.

Actually the MSBE the page that I came up with several years ago to be the top level
index for the FAQ site. Also reflected in this was the fact that the group had gone
beyond just K1/K2 stuff. In any case, the "homepages list" belongs to Duncan, the
"experience" pages that Tish still maintains are the living memory of this newsgroup,
some of the others, like Jay Lenos warwaw-visaguide, are country specific, and some I
just threw on there (newsgroup history, tax stuff, solar flares) to see if they would
stick. Neither the MSBE or the FAQ are maintained at the k1faq.com site anymore.
However, both these sites are still maintained by me at their original locations.
http://www.txdirect.net/users/mike38/faq_index.htm and
http://www.txdirect.net/users/mike38/k1faq.htm, altho I would highly recommend folks
make copies of these pages for their hard drives, not just link to them, in case our
ISP ever goes under, or I lose interest.

Oh, and thanks for the nice comments. We change the background image of the FAQ every
two or three years just to freshen it up, otherwise it pretty much is the same old
FAQ. If something comes up in the newsgroup that is new or better, I stick in in
there, sooner or later.
