Your most useful websites

Hi chaps,

I do an awful lot of my shopping UK-Side online. However, one thing which has suddenly occurred to me is that when we are in the states, I won't be able to use my fave ones, can anyone give me equivilents:

I use...

play.com (cheap cds dvds, books - free delivery)
Argos.co.uk (furniture/household etc..)
Multimap.co.uk (for directions, local/area maps)
B&Q - diy.co.uk (DIY stuff)
Boots.com (smellies/shampooo etc..)
seetickets.co.uk (concert tickets/news)
BBC.co.uk (news)

I also need a good one for pet products (food etc..)

Obviously ebay and amazon, I'll just use the US versions.

Can anyone help with their faves?

Ta

Is Amazon fairly well priced then? Over here its not one of the cheapest - good selection, but they sting you big time on postage - others do cheap prices and free delivery. Generally Supermarkets are better for best seller books here, they are around half the RRP.

that's because of the VAT....you don't pay VAT on UK stuff shipped to the US...and in the US, it ain't to bad, cheapest place to get PG Tips...and spend over $25 and it's free shipping.

For books, amazon ain't bad, nor that ebay halfway something or other...

I use www.bbc.co.uk,www.guardian.co.uk and www.independent.co.uk

formost ofmy news,I listen to Radio4 most of the day at work and then pick up
the US centric news on Boston's NPR affiliate on wbur.

If you want UK "products" there is a LUSH and a BodyShop in Harvard Square.

There's no British sites that I shop online at these days but here's websites I've shopped at numerous times:

www.petco.com for ratty stuff, esp. litter.
www.overstock.com Good for gifts and surprisingly, cheaper for books than Amazon
www.artbeads.com self explanatory
http://www.kimsarkrescue.org/ Ratty vitamins supplements and banana Nylabones
http://www.sunnylandfarms.com/ the best for nuts, yet morenuts and dried fruit

I still use paper mapbooks. Map websites are only any good for short journeys really. I have tried planning long trips using the internet and they send you hundreds of miles wrong sometimes.
