The title of the thread is "You know you've been in the US too long when ..." I know I've been here too long because everything about the place grates on me now ....... and yes that includes the accent, so suck it up buttercup

I've only been here a year and I don't notice it anymore. I maybewoudif I had british family at home I guess, but as I don't, I'm surrounded by people saying totally, hella and dude. The same can't be said with locals andmy accent though. My wife found it most amusing when my 5 year old step daughter said something was rubbish the other day. Apparently, the yanks don't say that. And just everybody I work with calls me mate, although said in an Australian accent
