I still use "Language, Timothy" at work when my boss swears...
He's not even called Tim and no one else there gets it, oh well

When you can really notice the silence because you didn't say 'bless you' when someone sneezed
Eight years here and it still makes me uncomfortable when someone says it to me ...

Someone saying "bless you!" makes you uncomfortable? ..... May I recommend that you don't move any further south or south east from your current location, as your discomfort level is likely to grow exponentially the further south/ south east you travel.

Isn't there a 'sir/ma'am' on the end of 'bless you' in the south?

Bloody right it does, anything with forced/overly outward religious overtones annoys the shit out of me.

Mrs P says "Gesundheit!" .... Now that is damned irritating!

I only really noticed it since moving here because it seems like everyone says it (except me ).

Yes everyone says it - I think people only said it to their companions in the UK, ie did not shout it across a store at a stranger?

I think the only person I ever heard say it was my mum and probably my granny when I was a child but at work/out with mates or after I grew up at home, I never heard it.
It's like people who use the word 'blessed' instead of 'quite fortunate' and I know there are religious overtones there because the people who use it (invariably in arsebook posts) are certified god botherers. For the sake of balance, a couple of old school friends in the UK are guilty of that too, before anyone accuses me of picking on Americans

One that annoys me in England is people saying, "Aah, bless!" whenever discussing something a child has done. It sounds so thick.

++ Same here. I just don't respond. IS there a response that is meant to be given? It just creeps me out.
