We always have a fresh turkey at Christmas.

Two years ago a Jewish friend recommended that we try a kosher turkey. We bought one and it was absolutely delicious, we will be buying kosher again this year.

I think I may be the only person who covers a kosher turkey with bacon before cooking it.

Lightbulb Re: Are you a Frozen or Fresh?

Didn't have a turkey this Thanksgiving (was in the UK so we had alternate plans) and will be having a ham at the in-laws at Christmas.

I've always bought my turkey frozen but the last turkey I bought (for Thanksgiving 2004) was a "slow food" turkey so it was slaughtered and frozen about two weeks before Thanksgiving (after it's 6-7 month life) and I picked up it up from a nearby farmer's market two days before Thanksgiving. This gave me time to let it thaw out in readiness for Thanksgiving.

I described my adventure roasting this heritage breed turkey last year in a thread.

You can bet the turkey didn't want to be kosher (or dead either).

Maybe, the turkey was friends with a pig.

Frozen. It's just easier. Bacon on the top, stuffing inside, roasted. Lovely stuff.
