My fiancee from the UK will be joining me here in the states (NYC area) shortly after the holiday season (INS willing of course) and I'm interested in getting some expats' suggestions for a good gift ideas for something to help ease the transition. I'm not necessarily looking for "serious" suggestions, it can be a gag gift, but serious suggestions are welcome also. He's been here loads of times so things like tour books or maps and the like were taken care of long ago.

Also, are there any good books out there about settling in in the states?

Don't know if they may fall foul of any importation laws, but how about things like
Christmas Pudding; HP Sauce; Marmite; Bisto gravy etc.?
