is XE safe and reliable?
hi folks i have seen many good posts about XE.com on this forum. so now i decide to use XE for my first big money move 7000 pounds.
my friend told me XE.com's website looks absolutely dodgy and un-professional. then i looked at some other currency exchangers they do look more professional than xe. i know it's a bit stupid to judge a company just from its website but it does show the company's image.
i wouldnt be bothered to post this if it's less than 1000 pounds but 7000 to me is a big number so i wanna make sure nothings will go wrong.anyone used XE before pls give some comments on the company. thanks

If you are worried, why not buy international money orders from any UK bank? The max might be 5000 quid, so buy a 5000 and a 2000. It is totally safe, and mine were drawn on barclays bank in New York.

i was in the middle of setting up a transfer using XEtrade BUT i noticed the rate on the final confirmation page is DIFFERENT!!! (1.820 only GBP->USD) from the rate (1.845) shown on XE's homepage real time rate table!
0.2 difference'd really make a difference if the transfer is big....
any experienced XE user can tell me why the rate for trading is lower?

You might want to read through this very informative article:
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cgi...14428796,22175,
I think that XE.com are actually based in Canada....I once sent them an e-mail asking who regulates them but although they sent a reply, ignored my original question......

Punktux...
the rates on the front page are MID-RATES between the bid/offer spread
XE make money from a small percentage of this spread so the actual rate you get will be slightly lowever than the mid-rate on the front page
nonetheless... this is still the best rate you will get anywhere. if you can find someone better than please post as I am about to pull the trigget on a 25k transaction

Re: is XE safe and reliable?
I've used XE a few times to transfer money from the UK to the US - I found the process extremely quick once you're set up, but there's a fair amount of anti-money laundering bureaucracy to register. The rates are excellent, and coupled with online banking, it's almost as quick and easy as moving money within the UK. Of course they could go bust tomorrow, but they appear to be a traditional currency exchange business trading on the web, rather than another dot.com, which gave me some comfort...

Re: is XE safe and reliable?
I made my first XE transfer a couple of weeks ago - sending money from my bank account in Australia to my bank account in the US. I've been transferring money back and forth between various countries for a while now & thought I had a good idea of what to expect from XE... but they completely surprised me!
I transferred my money out via online banking on a Thursday evening (after the banks had closed). I was hoping the money would be in my US account by the end of the following week (but thought it might take a bit longer). To my shock, first thing Monday morning, the money had been already transferred into my account! If you take into account the fact that my money wouldn't have actually been transferred out of my account until the Friday morning, & the fact that there was a weekend, it literally took them just over a day & a bit to get my money through - now that is fast! Not only that, but they gave me a much better rate than all of people I had previously used to transfer money.
Only downside is there is a LOT of paperwork to fill out... but very much worth it in my opinion!
