Default WTF - Glowing click beetle

So, I was coming out of my bathroom into a dark bedroom and saw these two little glowing green circles on the floor... I was intrigued; what were these little spots - so I took a closer look and these two little glowing spots started moving along the floor!

I'll confess I turned into a little girl....

Never seen one of those before and I've been here over 6 years.

How big was it?

Edit: Just Googled it sounds like a luminous click beetle.

It was about an inch long. The picture I posted wasn't mine, that was one I found online.

I thought the green spots were eyes, but it turns out they're just luminous spots used to communicate and ward of predators (or big fairies!)

What's weird is the green spots are very bright, like little headlights.

It only clicks when it's on its back. AL...perhaps the next time you see one you can put it on its back and report back.

My son loved these things, when we lived in TX he had several of them he'd keep in a jar and shake the jar to make them click and glow. Sadly they run out of charge a little sooner than a Duracell, especially in the hands of a 5-year old.... I'd take one of these over a giant wood roach any day of the week
