we'll need a chauffeur....did I just hear pimpbot volunteer for the position??
I have a friend who's family did it twice when she was a teenager, the second time her and her sister weren't as pumped about the whole thing ...but she has been all over the States seen all the big scenic sights to see etc and it can bond a family......or the opposite depending on the family....I wonder if caravaning/RV'ing has ever resulted in any divorces

Aren't there folks who make a living out of digging out extremely large RVs? They even sink into concrete if parked up too long!

I quit fancy rolling around the country without worrying about stopping, never thought of the fuel implications though Ithink it harks back to wanting a VW campers as a kid.

I would love to be able to afford an RVfor my rabble. To compare the caravans in the UK to the RV's in the US is a bit simplistic some of them are better equipped than houses ( well my house anyway)

My husband and I did the Rockies in Canada in 2001.It was fantastic.
Part of the fun was the total freedom it gave us. We went in the early October for two weeks, and it was the best holiday we ever had. The RV sites were great, and because it was off season we did not plan ahead..I think this helped as we could spend as long as we liked in each area with no pressure to move onto the next site...There was aircon, and heating.
Would we buy one ..no....but would we hire another and do it again ...oh yes...There was only the two of us, and if we do it again it will be with friends or family.

Bah. Could probably stay in a 4-star hotel for the rest of my life for the price of one of those behemoths.
