Is it worth my becoming a citizen?
So i have been here for 18 months now, love it and don't plan on moving back to blighty.
BUT i also love being a British Citizen.
Can i go dual citizenship? Is it worth it? What are the benefits of being a US Citizen (apart from voting)?

Lots of peeps have stated the bennies of having dual cit, but the top advantages, to my mind, are:
1) You can vote
2) You can get federal "USC only" jobs
3) You can return home to Blighty for a few years, and not worry about losing status and starting over again with visas, if you want to come back
Btw, being lazy and eating like a glutton at all-you-can-eat buffets are 2 criteria to become a cit. You've got one down, can you handle the other?

The right to have a United States passport and receive assistance from U.S. Embassies and Consulates when traveling abroad.
Be able to sponsor family members so they can obtain green cards and legally immigrate to the United States.
Children of U.S. citizens are automatically U.S. citizens by birth (in most cases, even if born outside the United States).
Security from removal (deportation) from the United States, since a U.S. citizen cannot be deported from the United States.
The right to live or take long trips outside the United States.
The right to vote.
Obtain certain federal jobs.
An unquestioned right to return to the United States, since citizens cannot be denied entry.
The right to apply for certain federal and state benefits.
No need to renew a Green Card upon expiration.

The only thing stopping me right now is the damn $675 they want. Forms are all filled in, evidence is all correct, money is missing!

You also free up your sponsors from being financially responsible for you which would be a bit plus for them as you can't threaten them with quitting your job and scrounging off the state with them picking up the bill.
I reckon I'll be applying for citizenship when I can simply because I hate handing over money for people to file forms especially when they hike them up all the time.
