And England will still barely scrape through the group stages, after the usual big build up, we can do it this year, we mean business this time etc. etc. etc.

Don't forget about the thousands of references to 1966 in the newspapers and TV, and Rooney will blow a gasket and get sent off in a game - Sweden probably, after getting frustrated by their shite performances in the 2 previous games.

with this piece of paper, 5-1 in Munich, blah blah blah.
General Daily Mirror Jingoism.

Still I thought they had a good chance in Italy in 1990, I have the same strange feeling this time out.

still....

The daily Mirror will discover Sven has never attended an England game, he is in bed shagging and has been using a cardboard cut-out in his place at the games, he shamefully attends England's last group game, but the cardboard cut-out is found to have superior tactics.
Michael Owen falls over a record 297 times in a game, but still manages to score 4 goals.

England play in their red shirts, which on closer examination are actually found to be a Liverpool NOT England shirts, in the hope of getting Stevie Gerrard to play a decent game for his country

My fella seems to think that his Italy are in the 'group of death'. Am i alone in thinking he's overdoing it a bit?

He says England have it easy, and he asked if i'll still love him if italy beat us in the final.... i think he's loosing it

Italy the 1-0 experts of Europe. Haven't done anything interesting since Schillaci played, apart from Baggio's silly haircut while missing penalties.
