Work and voting question
I am still a LPR (yes I know I should have done the citizen thing but ... well OK I'm a major procrastinator)
I have been asked if I would like to help at our local voting centre, now I know I'm not eligible to vote but can I work for the local election board checking ID's and stuff ? (yes they ask for ID here, have for years apparently)
All replies written in black ink and in triplicate please :\

Re: Work and voting question
Your LPR status does not disqualify you automatically from volunteering or providing administrative assistance in an election, however your question should really be directed to your state's voting administration office because they could have their own rules that are more restrictive.

It would depend on local rules. I know some places you have to be a registered voter and either registered Dem or Rep, so registered independents need not apply.

That's weird, it would be no good having someone who might be impartial! ..... In the UK poll workers could not be members of a political party, from what I recall.

Thanks for your replies folks, I'll go back and ask what their regulations say.

You should do more than ask, I'd recommend verifying the answer. If you're in Alaska, it looks like you need to be a registered voter, which rules out non-U.S. citizens: Election Workers and Registrars
