work visa
hey guys and gals
firstly happy new year and wish you all the best for 2012 and the future. well i am here for some advice. i have a trip planned to the states in june, i have the typical 3 month tourist visa as i want to back pack around. but i am a bricklayer and would be interested in some sort of work visa. i once had a work permitt for canada. and was wondering if there is such a thing going for america. all help will be much apprieciated wesley |

although the travel agent told me about an esta visa which last for 6 months. |

ESTA is for the VWP, forget about the B2.

The 90 days is the Visa Waiver Program, or VWP. You fill out an Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) and then get on a plane and show up in the USA. Generally you get a Visa Waiver and are allowed to stay in the US for 90 days, unless you have some criminal convictions in your past.
The B2 visa is a six month visa, but generally you won't have much luck with that. It seems to be more for retirees or people who cannot get the VWP. You're not going to be able to work on these though. |
