Re: work visa

ESTA is for the VWP, forget about the B2.

Re: work visa

The 90 days is the Visa Waiver Program, or VWP. You fill out an Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) and then get on a plane and show up in the USA. Generally you get a Visa Waiver and are allowed to stay in the US for 90 days, unless you have some criminal convictions in your past.

The B2 visa is a six month visa, but generally you won't have much luck with that. It seems to be more for retirees or people who cannot get the VWP.

You're not going to be able to work on these though.

The 90-day (not 3 month) limit is the visa waiver program. It isn't a visa... there is no visa.

There are work visas, yes... but you will need a US company to sponsor you for a work visa.

The travel agent is either very stupid, or deliberately lied to you.
