Default Work Permits

Has anybody got any experience of how long work permits take to come through the US system (I'm an accompanying spouse and my wife already has a permit).

I've had several opinions from it taking 4 weeks to 6 months I've already been waiting six weeks. Still, it gives me time for other distractions

L2?

2 to 3 months.

I assume you would also be eligible to go get one after 90 days waiting.

C09, if that makes any sense. Does anyone know what your employer uses to do your taxes with, is it the A# or Card#?

Never heard of CO9. What's your visa stamp in your passport? Do you have immigrant or non-immigrant status in the US?

The employer uses one's Social Security number to identify the employee for deducting taxes.

I have a pending application for AOS & I don't have a social security number, just a work permit, so how does that work?

I don't know what you're going on about. Would suggest you at least read US Visas and US Immigration forums on BE.

I came here on I-130-> I-751-> currently have N-400 in progress.

You could've already applied for your social security #, just telephone your local SS office and tell them what visa your on and that your adjusting status and they'll get you a SS#. I had my SS# 3 weeks after I got here, before I got an EAD and the AOS.

You should've got it back within 2 to 3 weeks.
