Actually "Wimpy" was/is a UK burger chain and light years better than a McDonalds. They were clever enough to actually slightly toast the stale buns instead of just dishing them out .

They were ahead of their time in pioneering the low-carb diet, though. I remember as a kid laughing at their "slimmer's option" - two burgers with cottage cheese on top and no bun. "Yeah, like the bun is the most fattening part of a hamburger", I thought. Now, everybody's at it.
