I'm curious as to why you feel better when looking only at the crap side of the UK. Looking down on where you're from isn't going to improve you or your life in the long run. The place you're from has some wonderful points to it as well as the shitey bits. You left. Sometimes you're going to miss that place, who you were then, the people that mattered to you, the things you used to do and sometimes you're not. Make peace with it and stop looking down on it.
Sarah, I love all my mates and family that came up in my city. You got me wrong. I dont miss the little hood rats or the filthy streets is all I meant. My heart will always be in my own hood no matter where I live (and I have lived in a few countries). But nice sentiment. Thank you love.

Well said Manc! Gimme a break guys. I can slag Salford as much as I want, it is my home town!!! My mum and dad, brothers and sisters, kids and nephews and neices were born and bred there. I can love it and hate it in equal measure. I am taking my ball in!!!

Stockport Town Centre is the pits, but I was just pointing out that almost everywhere has it's good and bad places - Marple is part of SMBC.
In response to Silly Sod - Homesickness can strike when you least expect it and when it does it can be extreme. My worst experience was after living here for a year, I was very depressed for about 3 months. After nearly 5years I still get homesick occasionally but it usually only lasts a week or so.

Home is always home, but no place stays the same.
I left the area where I grew up, 30 odd years ago. It will however always be "home". The people here talk different, eat different foods, different lifestyle, different weather, different scenery and they even drive differently (:scared: ).
