If being able to write about lab work is now considered acceptable to pass a science exam then that represents a shocking dumbing down of the education system and does not bode well for the country as a whole. Obviously only a very small percentage of the population uses science skills directly after they leave school, but exposure to the scientific method and related ways of problem solving, deductive reasoning, and critical thinking are invaluable skills that almost everyone would benefit from understanding and being able to use.
