Will my GCSEs be recognised in the US?

It's not a big deal, I'd just feel bad for anyone else who encountered that kind of rudeness (not abuse, just rudeness) on their first day. What does HTH mean?

Re: Will my GCSEs be recognised in the US?
Ah, very helpful. I haven't paid for the GCSEs yet. If I was to take them, it would be from September to July, so a lot of potential "moving time" would be lost. I would rather not take them if I don't have to.
I suppose now then, I'm looking at moving over first, then adjusting my status, and then doing a GED. Can I do a GED at a community college? Any ideas how much it costs and how long it takes, etc?

Reported posts are looked at by all mods for a forum, supermods, and site admin, but unless the post breaks Site Rules, no action will be taken. Rudeness isn't against our forum rules (just as well, or we'd have very few members left ).
But tbh, I don't see any posts where people have been rude to you, simply direct and to the point, and trying to clarify your situation for your own sake. As said above, you must be moving on either of the marriage based visas, so it's just helpful for everybody to know that so they can tailor their advice (even job related advice, as your choice of visa does have a bearing on that).
HTH.

I would suggest that GCSE's would be useless, as others have said, and a GED will be a little better. That said, IMO the best use of a GED would be to use it as the foundation for further study at community college to get some career qualifications.

By the way, telling it how it is is how this site operates, which isn't rude, and is why it is the best site of its kind out there. If you can't take that, you're in the wrong place.

"Note: This is ONLY to be used to report spam, advertising messages, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts."
I checked if rudeness was a reason for reporting before I reported said post. Do you not think telling someone they're being childish for no good reason is rude? No biggie like I said but I'm just trying to make sure nobody else if spoken to like that on their first day here. It's sad.

I added to my post above, with some further advice/suggestions.
BTW I wouldn't plan for an easy job in retail in the US - the retail market is pretty much in free-fall with another major retailer either closing hundreds of locations or declaring bankruptcy literally every week so far this year!

Hairdressing is a great example of a qualification you can get fairly easily and fairly cheaply from a community college. In the US hairdressers and others in the beauty business must be qualified and licensed by the state in order to work.

When my wife started working here, she was hosting/serving at a local restaurant. The English accent made for a conversation starter (albeit some thought she was Australian) and is something that locals aren't used to hearing. I doubt it would get you any preferential treatment in terms of finding a job, but if it came down to you and one other, it's at the very least, a differentiator!
Good luck to you.

Oh, nice! So if everything goes pear-shaped I (hopefully) will have something to fall back on. Thanks haha
